Football transfer rumours: Julian Alvarez ‘deal agreed’

Barcelona is open to selling Pedri to facilitate Dani Olmo’s arrival from RB Leipzig. Manchester United is interested in the midfielder transfer but only willing to pay £50m.

Another midfielder Man Utd is looking at is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone, who is also interested in Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Wolves’ Brazil international Joao Gomes is also on Man Utd’s radar after they decided to abandon their pursuit of PSG’s Manuel Ugarte. Chelsea could too move for Gomes once Conor Gallagher’s sale to Atletico Madrid is finalised.

Mikel Merino has given his approval to join Arsenal, but they are yet to make an offer to Real Sociedad. The Spain midfielder would also be open to a move to Barcelona if the Gunners continue to stall. Arsenal have a tight transfer deadline if Mikel Arteta wants new signings before the Premier League opener against Wolves. In just under two weeks, the Gunners will kick off their 2024/25 campaign, and thus far only one new senior arrival, Riccardo Calafiori, has been confirmed. The Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino remains a summer target with a major update on a final transfer decision now coming to light.

Arsenal are readying a formal offer for Galatasaray forward Baris Alper Yilmaz, who starred for Turkiye at Euro 2024.

With Juventus forcing him to leave this summer, Federico Chiesa has offered himself to Barcelona as an alternative target to Nico Williams.

Liverpool are ready to rival Newcastle United for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. The Magpies are currently frontrunners for the England international.

Manchester City is close to finalizing the sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico and could receive Joao Felix as a makeweight in the deal. Manchester City star Julian Alvarez is another to have been linked to an Emirates Stadium switch with several other interested parties having already made contact with his camp. Elsewhere, Eddie Nketiah could seal a departure from his boyhood club with Marseille chasing his signature and now a huge hint has been dropped.

Real Madrid and Atletico are continuing to rival Arsenal for the services of free-agent midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who left Juventus last month.

Chelsea remain in talks with Victor Osimhen over his potential wage package at Stamford Bridge. The complex deal would see Romelu Lukaku head the other way to Napoli.

Tottenham are working hard to strike a deal with Bournemouth for star striker Dominic Solanke, whose contract contains a £65m release clause.
